A wonderful ending to a wonderful series! This book kept me invested and was by FAR better than the Long Road. However, I disliked Max at the end of the story, and though I expected Gizmo and Rocky to fall in love, I was kind of hoping they wouldn't. I saw Max, Rocky, and Gizmo as family, not just dogs in the relationship kind of love, and I thought it was sweeter if it stayed that way. Anyways, Max at the end... I liked how he was protective of his dog family, but growling and running away? If he was so smart, wouldn't he just communicate to Dr. Lynn that he was anxious about leaving Rocky and Gizmo?Moving on from that, I just loved the dogs at DeQuincy - and, even though she wasn't a dog, TIFFANY! I loved her and hated her annoyingly awesomeness at the same time, although I'm sure I'm the only one. Tiffany just hit the spot, spunky, courageous, hilarious (that one especially), and just lovable, though I'm sure Max didn't think so. I also enjoyed the new threat of the coyotes, and how Max was struggling with bringing the humans back vs. giving up their journey. Again, though, I didn't get Dolph. Hmm. He's just generally a confusing character. All in all, though, I loved this series and will definitely read more Christopher Holt has to offer.

The Last Dogs Journey End Christopher Holt Allen Douglas Books Reviews
This book makes for a wonderful ending to a great series. If you liked the other three books you need to get this one. I love the series and the happy ending makes it better
Fantastic ending!!!. So THANKFUL for a series without magic or darkness for our young kids. Just a GOOD SERIES with leadership and talking points for my 10 year old. Thank you Christopher Holt!
This is the best series I have ever read other than Warriors. I really hope Christopher Holt writes more books. I recommend this book for all adventurous dog fans to read the series. But be warned, this series has some pretty gory parts, like in the first book it talks about the Chairman's prisoners. Which is why I wish someone would slap or kill THE CHAIRMAN!!!!! Other than that I really like the series. It leaves u at the edge of your seat. I feel sorry for all the feral pets at the end of the book. ( but I'm glad that the animals promised by Max, Rocky, and Gizmo that the humans will return who are reunited with their families. The puppies look SOOOOOOO cute!!!!!! I won't tell u whose! I already gave away a LOT of Info on this book.
I so enjoyed every minute of the series, fell in love with every character. The author's way of writing is magical and he brings each character so alive. Look forward to more like this
This is the last book of the series (4 Books total). Great story. I read the first book in the series to my son and daughter when they were ages 7 and 8. Now at ages 11 and 12, they realized it was a series and wanted to read all four books. We shared the series with other dog loving kids. Great!
NO SPOILERS
As the journey reaches its end for 3 young dogs Max Rocky and Gizmo continue their quest to find all the humans. This finale to one of my faveorite series was beautiful. I couldn't recommend the last dogs more. If you are not familiar with the last dogs this series is about a world after it has been destroyed by a Mutated virus and 3 dogs who are determined to restore peace. Also if you are new to this series the books do not have the numbers on the cover, but on the side and if you are like me you might find it confusing about what the order is so I listed the order here
1)the vanishing
2)dark waters
3)the long road
4)journeys end
I hope this review was helpful and if you haven't already... READ THE LAST DOGS!!!
I loved this book. My only critizisim would be the use of geographical features are not of the area mentioned. I live in east Texas and the area where the tent city is suppose to be here. It is not desert but a forested area. The swamp mentioned in the series goes all the way across Louisiana. The river that they follow south must be the Mississippi R since there is no other river that runs that far north and empties into the gulf. Baton Rouge is right on this river so they would have reached there before the gulf and where the river empties into the gulf there are no towns because it is on the delta. He should have made this a fictional place or followed the correct geography.
